Climate change and politics, what does all of that really mean? This topic is one that is very confusing to understand, unless you have some background in the earth sciences and business. Let me summarize and pose some basic ideas and questions.
1. The EPA is the United States Environmental Protection Agency whose aim is to protect human health and the environment.
2. What would the purpose be to place a "climate change" denier in an office within the EPA? (remember the whole idea is to PROTECT the environment and understand the science that shows up what the planet is doing --- and to get to the root cause as to why negative responses in the environment are happening (animal dying off in mass quantities, glaciers and tundra melting at rates far to excessive than our land and air can tolerate) causing coastlines to lose ground for development, or giving coastlines to inappropriate development such as golf courses etc.
3. Here is the primary reason. If a leader is placed within the EPA who DOES NOT believe in climate change then LAND AND HUMAN PROTECTIVE LAWS and REGULATIONS will not favor HUMANS AND THE LAND. Pollution regulations will be relaxed allowing big business to further pollute the environment and hence pollute us.
4. WHY is this an issue? Why would they intentionally put a person who does not believe in climate change in a powerful decision making position? Placing a disbelieving person in this position is an attempt to promote big business by feeding us cunning information that manipulates the truth which aims at allowing big businesses to operate in a cost reducing way at the expense of respecting the environment and doing the right thing to manage waste and harmful elements that go into production of a good that you and I buy (or hopefully don't if its a company that is not environmentally friendly).
There is more than enough evidence that climate change is real, and in this post I will spare you of all of the background that I am aware of other than this one fact.....97% of scientists acknowledge that the trend is the global climate is warming and the majority of those scientists point to human interactions and impacts on the planet are the direct cause.
Without understanding climate science one might say "I don't believe it, winters are colder than ever and lasting much longer---- it's furthest from, warming, where I live!", but that is in fact proof, weather patterns are becoming more extreme in their existing patterns. If you have winter, winters are intensifying. If you live in the desert, rain is becoming less and less. If you live near a glacier, you are beginning to watch it's edge recess. If you live on a coastline, you are perhaps watching the shoreline "sink" into the ocean because water is rising. Other less drastic climate areas are simply noticing their migrating wildlife show up earlier and later than normal as they are passing through.
So, I digress, WHY would a climate denier be a benefit in the EPA? Simple, if they don't believe in climate change, then they also don't see a need to protect against its effects. Therefore, they will NOT set strong regulations in place to prevent companies and other harmful actions against our environment and the only one who benefits are the corporations who can consume more resources and produce more goods at a cheaper rate so that you and I who consume those goods can buy more at a cheaper rate.
All of us are harmed by this decision, it comes as an expense to our environment and our health. All of which the EPA is meant to protect. Placing Myron Ebell (who is funded by the Koch brothers -- known environmental polluter in oil production) in a position to lead the EPA in their "transition" is only intended to support big business making it easier for them to harm the environment.
Making uneducated decisions that are masked as good intent to progress the American economy are incredibly dangerous as you can see. This is why I, and others need to speak out against these activities and help others to understand their importance. This is not a time to be shy......be on the lookout for the opportunity to talk about environmental concerns where you live, not only on a global scale. The means and methods to educate us about global and national concerns are often labeled as a farce -- which is intended to keep us unaware of our power over the corporations that appear to bind us (fuel and power companies etc --- I will write more on that later).
Take note of every small detail impacting your environment in a negative way and TALK ABOUT IT......mother earth needs you most. Your care and concern is most genuine, you are not the big corporation, you are the one connected to the soil you stand on.....please, please, please, give that soil, air and water your voice to speak on it's behalf.
